What your pet's coat actually needs
Every coat is on a different schedule. Here is the short version, so you know what to ask for.
Curly & wavy
Every 4 to 6 weeksDoodles, poodles and bichons keep every hair they grow, so loose hair turns into mats. Brush to the skin at home and keep appointments close together.
Double coats
Deshed, don't shaveHuskies, aussies, goldens and shepherds have an undercoat that protects them from heat as well as cold. A deshedding bath removes what is loose without ruining the coat.
Short coats
Bath, nails, doneLabs, heelers and boxers mostly need a good bath, a deshed in spring and fall, and nails kept short so their feet stay comfortable.
Cats
Slow and steadyLong-haired cats mat behind the legs and under the collar where owners rarely brush. Cats do best with short, calm sessions and a groomer who does not rush them.

Took long haired cat and large dog in for first grooming. Both pets looked good and were very happy at pickup. Prices are good and booking an appointment was fast. Didn't have to wait weeks for my appointment.
Brought them 2 dogs, one was getting his first haircut and the other was a very skittish 1.5 year old, 60+ pounds. Previously we had to pick up the older one from a previous groomer because they couldn't handle him.
Thank you to Shari for doing a great job on my cat Tuxi! I wasn't sure what to expect since I have never taken him to the groomer before. She did a great job shampooing him, trimming his nails, and doing a sanitary trim.

Pawfection Grooming is a small shop on Highway 59 in Bowie, and that is the whole point. The person who answers the phone is one of the people who grooms your pet, remembers that your heeler hates the dryer, and knows which cat needs the lights down low.
With 35 years of experience on cats and dogs both, Shari has been voted Best Groomer in Wise County three years running. Most of her customers come from a neighbor’s recommendation rather than an ad, and some drive a couple of hours to get here. Christie and Cheyanne groom alongside her, so there is more than one pair of experienced hands in the shop.

Do you groom cats?
Yes. We groom cats as well as dogs, including baths, nail trims and sanitary trims. Mention that you are bringing a cat when you call or text so we can plan the right amount of time.
How do I book an appointment?
Call or text (940) 366-0606. Grooming is by appointment, and customers often say they get in quickly rather than waiting weeks.
My dog is nervous or very large. Can you still groom him?
Tell us about it when you book. Customers have brought skittish dogs and dogs over 60 pounds that other groomers turned away, and they went home groomed and calm.
How much does grooming cost?

How often should my dog be groomed?
Curly and wavy coats like doodles usually need a groom every four to six weeks to stay ahead of matting. Double-coated and short-coated dogs can go longer between visits but still benefit from regular baths, deshedding and nail trims.
